Make My Founding Fathers Proud

It’s no secret that I have issues with the barbecue. In fact, cooking in general eludes my otherwise talented being. And let’s face it, shopping for groceries hasn’t been a picnic for me, either. But one must uphold certain traditions, especially when they relate to God and country.

Only a third of Americans were patriots. Another third were loyalists and the rest had a “Leave me alone and let me work” tude. In Canada they still hang the picture of the queen in school and government offices. Separation anxiety.

Thinkering about the constitution seems particularly relevant today. The question remains: When is the last time you (or your children) read the US Constitution, or for that matter, the Declaration of Independence?

To test your knowledge here is a quiz:

    How many Articles are there?
How many Amendments are there (last one was in 1992)?
    What is Article 1 about?
    What is Article 2 about?
    What is Article 3 about?
How many Amendments are there in the Bill of Rights?
When was the Bill of Rights ratified?
    Which Amendment abolished slavery?
Where would you find the famous quote, “WE hold these Truths to be self evident?
How many states were required to ratify the Constitution?
BONUS QUESTION Reudor: What is the Fifth Amendment about?

WTF Lacika!!! It’s too early for this. OK, there are 7 articles but I only know the first 3: the Legislative branch, the executive branch, and article 3 is the Judicial branch. There are 27 amendments and I know some of them by heart. I think 10 amendments in the Bill of Rights but not totally sure. Ratified 1789. no, that’s when Washington became prez. So a year or 2 after that. They abolished slavery? (luck 13. a year almost to day before Lincoln’s death). C’mon, the Dec of Independence. 9/13 states. the fifth was Beethoven’s famous symphony. OK time for coffee.

You’re not alone! This past 4 of July the person manning the grill started a huge fire, and all of the burgers were extremely well done. And oh the firework stories I could tell you. Great post!
